St. James the Less

St. James the Less

St. James the Less

Feastday: May 3
Died: 62

Apostlecalled “the Younger” or “the Just,” named in the lists of the disciples given by Matthew, Mark, and Luke and mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles. He was the son of Alpheus and was known as “the Less” merely as a means of distinguishing him from James the Greater who was older or taller. According to Mark, he stood with the woman Mary and Mary Magdalene at the Crucifixion; he is also called by implication the son of the woman Mary. Little else is known with certainty about him, unless one accepts the view that he is to be identified with St. James, the Brother of the Lord, with whom he is often confused. In liturgical art, he is depicted holding a book or a club. He shares the same feast day as St. Philip.

    St. James,
You are the my late grandpa's name saint. Today I ask that you watch over his wife Julietta, my grandmother. She is going through a lot of heart complications and needs some extra help. We just want for her what God has in his will. I know Grandpa and Tom, her late son, are both looking down on her and have been this past week. I have very strong faith that what God wants is what will be done and will be for the best. I am so thankful and grateful to have had such a wonderful set of Grandparents to look up to and learn so many life lessons from. As much as I will miss her on this earth, whether she be taken today or 10, 20 years from now I know she has lived out a beautiful Catholic life and deserves eternal life with Jesus, God, Grandpa and Tom in Heaven.

Good Morning Apostle James, today is your FEAST DAY and what a wonderful day it will be for me here in my native city of Melbourne. I will attend morning Mass at St Patrick's cathedral than enjoy a hearty lunch with a colleague at one of the many fine restaurants that Melbourne is famous for. Dinner will be at home with a dear old catholic priest whom I hadn't seen in many years. So, I want to make your FEAST DAY very special and enjoyable as I try to do every year when our Holy Mother Church celebrates it universally with Apostle Philip and youself every 3rd May.

Dear Apostle James, today I want to ask you for a very special and urgent favour to save my little brother's life which is hanging by the skin of his teeth, he could die any time now. Timmy saccumbed to the diabolical power of heroin, and it is HELL literally for him and our family who want him to break out of HELL, his heroin hell, and be reunited with us who can't bear to watch him slip away from us. The horror and trauma heroin causes families of addicts is indescribable. least the addicts themselves. Timmy has developed a $200 a day addiction and he only lives for his next heroin hit and nothing else matters.

Timmy's life has been reduced to living like a wild beast and it breaks our hearts when he is repeatedly bashed by drunk louts for free entertainment, heroin addcits are too weak to defend themselves. Timmy is living by the skin of his teeth and death is always looking at him like vulture looking at its prey. Precious Apostle, it is said that where there is life there is hope, so please do something very beautiful for Timmy today, use your powerful influence with Jesus pleading with the Risen Lord to break the diabolical power of heroin and restore Timmy to life and into the waiting arms of his terrified and tortured mother.

    AMEN

In your lists of Saints, James the Less is said to be standing at the Crucification of Our Lord according to Mark.

So James and John were both there? Could you clarify.

    Thomas
