First Martyrs of the See of Rome

First Martyrs of the See of Rome

First Martyrs of the See of Rome

Feastday: June 30
Died: 64

The holy men and women are also called the “Protomartyrs of Rome.” They were accused of burning Rome by Nero , who burned Rome to cover his own crimes. Some martyrs were burned as living torches at evening banquets, some crucified, others were fed to wild animals. These martyrs died before Sts. Peter and Paul, and are called “disciples of the Apostles. . . whom the Holy Roman church sent to their Lord before the Apostles’ death.”

This kind of persecution is going to happen again. Many of the saints predicted another time like this happening just after the 21st century. Read the book, Catholic Prophecy by Yves Dupont. And,go to the Direction For Our Times web site. There is a devout catholic woman, a franciscan of the third order, who is a prophet. Read the things Jesus, Mary, and the Saints told her. Especially Volume 7. You can read them for free on-line.

Christianity was built on the blood of martyrs. The means of torture included every conceivable manner, burning, grilling, feeding to the lions, crucifition, etc, etc.The cruel Romans loved blood sport and enjoyed the spectacle of the terrible suffering and pain that the pagans inflicted on the early Christians. Dear Jesus, if this was not enough, the early church was threatened by horrific heresies. Through all its birth pangs You O Lord preserved Your truth in the Catholic Church. Bless and enlighten all those who search for You. Bless all baptised Catholics. Bless us First Martyrs. Amen

what a time to hae lived when these martyrs did! The cruelty, the barbaric practices they used to torture and frighten people away from believing in Jesus. You do not find that kind of faith today, we coud use just a little pinch of it!!!
