Solution to the Energy Crisis: Stop the Algae, Harness Hot Flashes! Comments

I have listened with great interest to the debate surrounding the energy situation.  If I understand the concerns of the environmentalists correctly, they are looking for an energy source that is completely renewable, does not affect the natural habitats of any place on earth, and is available to everyone equally. Well, I am taking this opportunity to announce that I have solved the energy crisis. All we need to do is capture the energy ... Continue Reading

Is the author mocking the serious concerns that many people have about the environment and their efforts to advance towards a more sustainable model of development? If so, why is a Catholic website posting such a mockery? Aren't Catholics supposed to respect the environment?

Haha I'm sure my mom would agree! She'd love to have her hot flashes funneled away!

I was wondering though, how this was related to Catholicism. I'm Catholic, born and raised. Found some really inspiring prayers on this site (like the prayer to St. Joseph I've found very supporting, given the stress I've been going through http://www.catholic.org/clife/prayers/prayer.php?p=780). But if someone could enlighten me regarding the relation between the Catholic church and the energy crisis, I'd appreciate it.

I'm aware that the environmental movement brings with it certain connotation, but I don't see anything contradictory with ensuring a just and sustainable future for the people on this God-given planet. Just as we need to respect our bodies as gifts of Christ, so must we respect the home he has given us, I believe.

And research is part of getting to that point.

What do you think? Do you have any insight?
