Liberal views are everywhere...(and they have been since the beginning of time) not just within Girl Scouts. Look at the tv programs for kids... news broadcasts...clothing ... etc Christians have always had to fight against the WORLD!
Jesus spoke of His kingdom - not of this WORLD... and so should we. But this does not have us condemning every aspect of the world we live in. We must guard ourselves and shield our children with the gospel of Jesus and strengthen our gifts of faith and hope and LOVE.
That does not mean we do nothing... it means we pray harder and be a light to the un-godly.
GSUSA has made several changes to the Journey books and this controversy has started a clean up of the worldly agenda at GSUSA.. but that will not be the end of it. The Girl Scout leader needs to be vigilant and lead her troop as a Christian... and she can with confidence with God at her side... just as with anything we face today in this world.
My girls were a part of girl scouts for years. My wife and I were extremely active and I don't recall seeing any materials of this sort. Having been a part of this group through their senior year in high school there was no mention of any of this stuff, let alone planned parenthood etc. I can't speak for the organization as a whole, but it wasn't going on in our area.
Colleen: People have been trying to evangelize the Girl Scouts for decades. But things are only getting worse --- if you and others want to change GSUSA from within, be my guest. If (and that's a big IF) GS becomes clean, then let them back into the good graces of the Church. But until then, it's truly scandalous to be financially supporting a group who is promoting abortion and the homosexual lifestyle to young girls. And so what if you can control the information that is presented in your own little safe troop --- we're talking about 2.3 million girls. Don't we have an obligation to those who don't have a good troop leader and are regularly exposed to this erroneous information? Time to take a stand for what is right, true and good. Will we stand for Girl Scouts or will we stand for the teaching of our Holy Mother Church?
I was a girl scout leader for 13 years in the Houston area, and I left when I discovered the immoral way that the leadership at the top of GSUSA was trickling down to the troop level. GS have done away with all the old wholesome material and replaced it with new age, secular, leftist, homosexual and pro-abortion propaganda. I am a Catholic first and I could see that the GSUSA was not where I should stay. It is wrong for our Catholic daughters. The lies, deceit, and denial of the GSUSA is evident. They don't want Catholics to leave because we provide a substantial amount to their coffers, so they can continue with thier agenda. It breaks my heart after putting so much time and love into this organization. There is an alternative to GS, called American Heritage Girls. I have looked into this and would recommend this program instead.
I don't agree with the "stay and fight" stance that Colleen posted, because it doesn't start at the troop level unfortunately. It started at the top and there is no where to turn. However, it is always good to pray.

Enemy within?
Under the Liberal secularists agendas, these Girl "guides to survival" is to an eternity, in the Feminist agendas to Nazi Philosophies, to an eternity where death is eternal, the residence of its mentor, the devil, through all the Physical & Spiritual Harlotry. against God, Man & Life. This again affirms that GOD was not joking when He told the First Parents not to take of the forbidden fruit, but meaningful, knowing the troubles man has been in from then, except through His Mercy by the Christ, unfortunately to the disbelief to the likes of the liberal secularlsts in their Agendas through the dictates of the girl scouts, even in all the deceit, the deceit of their mentor.

Amazing article. Thank you for the facts. I thought the old CEO Kathy Cloninger was problematic. This new CEO, Chavez, sounds even more manipulative and liberal. And she's allegedly Catholic --- we don't need our Catholic girls looking up to a pro-choice Catholic. Time to move on. Our girls deserve better.
